Trinity advises on two award-winning transactions
Published:Trinity is pleased to announce that both the 310.25MW Lake Turkana wind power transaction and the 340MW Cenpower Kpone independent power project in Ghana were awarded the prestigious “Deal of the Year” by Thomson Reuters’ Project Finance International magazine for 2014, for “African Renewables Deal of the Year” and “African Power Deal of the Year” respectively. Trinity advised on both transactions throughout their respective development and financing stages, helping to get two of the largest and most ground-breaking transactions on the African continent over the line to reach financial close, which they both did in December 2014.
On the Lake Turkana transaction, Trinity advised African Development Bank, European Investment Bank, The Standard Bank of South Africa, Nedbank Limited, FMO, DEG, Proparco, East African Development Bank, PTA Bank, the Danish export credit agency EKF and the US development agency, OPIC.
On the Cenpower transaction, Trinity advised the project company, whose shareholders include Africa Finance Corporation, Sumitomo Corporation, a consortium of Ghanaian investors, Mercury Power and FMO and until financial close included InfraCo.
With these being the only two awards for sub-Saharan project finance, Trinity are proud to have won a clean sweep of awards from the industry’s leading independent global project finance publication. The awards are given to companies and deals who have demonstrated outstanding performance and commitment.
