Simone specialises in advising local, regional and multinational clients, including DFIs, on complex local and cross-border corporate/commercial transactions across Africa. Her practice focuses on blue chip cross border corporate M&A work across various sectors, including energy and natural resources, consumer goods, life sciences and health care and financial services. Simone also assists clients with drafting and negotiating complex commercial agreements as well as with a wide range of company law and company administration and governance-related matters. Through her work across the continent, Simone has developed a deep understanding of the relevant political landscape and regulatory environment in various jurisdictions.

Simone is South African qualified with over 10 years’ experience having worked previously at top tier, pan-African law firm Bowmans and leading international law firm Hogan Lovells. She also has significant in-house secondment experience, having worked in the Private Equity team at the then Investec Asset Management (now NinetyOne) and at multinational pharmaceutical and biotechnology company, AstraZeneca. Following her time at AstraZeneca, Simone has developed expertise in the Life Sciences and Healthcare sector and regularly advises clients on a full range of regulatory compliance matters including telehealth and telemedicine, medical device establishment licenses, clinical trials, medicine supply and pricing and issues related to the advertising and marketing of medicines and medical devices.

Simone was recently awarded the Rising Star prize at the IFLR Africa Awards 2024 and was also shortlisted for the Private Practice Rising Star Award at the African Legal Awards 2024.
