Advising on the construction and financing of Takoradi Port, Ghana
Published:Trinity International LLP is pleased to announce that it recently advised Atlantic Terminal Services Limited in respect of the construction and financing of a container terminal and multipurpose use terminal in Takoradi Port, Ghana.
The project, which is being developed by Ibistek Limited, in collaboration with Africa Finance Corporation (which provided 100% of the debt financing for the project) and the Ghana Ports and Harbours Authority, will pave the way for the construction of a 600 metre-long quay wall for the berthing of large container vessels, with an annual container output of one million twenty-foot equivalent units (TEUs). The project is the first ports project to be developed in Ghana by a wholly-owned Ghanaian company and is expected to substantially increase the country’s trading position, employment opportunities, as well as enhance harbour performance and productivity.
The transaction adds to Trinity’s existing experience advising on port projects in Ghana. The Trinity team comprised senior consultant Patrick Leece, counsel Eric Filipink, senior associates Adekanmi Lawson and Lucy Johnson, and associate Tamila Nakazwe.
